Well, my family and I took a trip to the historical town of Tombstone AZ yesterday, and my mother proposed we go on a ghost tour. Now, as you may or may not know, Tombstone has a particularly bloody past, dating back to the times when only the indian tribes lived in that area.
A little fun fact about the area in Cochise County near the Dragoon Mountains: When the Apache Indians Geronimo and Cochise were hiding from the Confederate soldiers in the mountains, the cavalrymen were having a hard time finding them. So, the decided to lure them out by killing some of the wemon of their village. Well, it did lure them out, along with all of the warriors of the tribe. The Apache are a very war-like people, and are very skilled fighters so most of the cavalry were wiped out. After that little incedent, Cochise went to his medicine man and told him to put a curse on the area that no two white men would live in peace. Now, I'm not really superstitious, but if you look at Tombstone's past it Kinda makes you wonder...
Anyways, here's some of the pictures we got while down in Tombstone. Enjoy!
First of all, this guy is my favorite character in the movie Tombstone. This would be the infamous Doc Holliday. The mountains behind them are the equally famous Dragoon Mountains. I don't know who he's talking to. =/ (P.S. That's not actually the real Doc Holliday, it's the actor who plays him in the O.K. Kurral shootout reinactment.)
These would be the old gallows behind the courthouse. Only seven men were hung, or "lynched" here. This was our first stop on the tour.
This would obviously be the welcoming building for Boothill graveyard. It is no longer a functioning graveyard due to the fact that it's completely filled. Or "without vacancies" as the newspaper reported when it closed.
This was our guide in front of the gate leading into the cemetary. That big monutment was a much bigger version of the prostpectors mark. Back when people came out here to prospect, they would put up these little statues as a proclemation to their claim on that land so other prospectors who came around knew to move along. Although, many of the residence of Boothill are there due to claim stealing and claim disputes.
This would be the reclusive Lexxa, only captured on film on rare occaisions. My mom caught me as I was texting Bex, and took the picture before I had a chance to smile all the way. XD
This was the gorgeous sunset over the Dragoon Mountains. We had just had some Monsoon storms earliar that day so it was much cooler and cloudier than it normally is.
This is where we get into some of the ooky spookys of this tour. This picture was very interesting because if you'll notice the bottom corners look like they've been torn off. I had the flash off and was holding the camera in front of the bushes I was between, so it couldn't have been the flash glaring off of the plants.
This would be in front of what used to be the Buford bead and breakfast. I would like to point out that all of these orbs couldn't have been dust, because five other people who took photos at about the same time I did caught similar images. There is the orb in the center, that really bright one up in the tree (which wasn't a street lights, because they're yellow-orange in color), one on the far right of the window, and one floating above the table between the chairs.
You can see the odd misting on the right-hand side. This couldn't have been actual mist because Arizona almost never gets mist below 10,000 feet, even in the Monsoon seasons. Plus, I had taken a picture of this exact spot right after this one and guess what? No mist.
These were two photos taken in succession on Main Street, in front of the old Oriental Saloon. Again, this can't be dust and mist because not only did I catch it, many others did too.
This one's a fun one because there's nothing here, but if you look below....
That nice bright little orb just popped out of nowhere. c:
Ironically, this little orb was taken in front of the Tombstone Ghost&Legends center. It's right next to the bench.
This was just one of the stray kitties around town, but he does add to that slightly eeire feeling Tombstone has a night. He was a very friendly kitty after we got his photo. X)
This is another before and after picture near the Good-Enuff Mine my dad took.
These is right infront of the Red Buffalo Trading post.
This was the last picture I took, and in the parking lot no less.
I don't necisarily believe in ghosts, just that there ae some things that can't be explained. If you guys find something in one of the pictures that I missed, feel free to tell me. c:
