Mintkit scratched at the ground impatiently, listening to the bickering between Foxkit, Fallowkit, Sootkit, Hazekit, Coalkit, Tinykiy, and Patchkit. Rolling her deep green eyes, she lashed her tail back and forth swiftly. "If you're all done chattering like a gang of starlings, let's get a move on! Whoever wants to stay, then stay and quit yapping about it! It'll be a really fun time, and every warrior in hte Clan has been mewing about this Gathering for the past moon! The foxes are gone - I'm sure that Littlestorm's patrol chased them off. And besides, we can yowl loud enough for help - we're not exactly helpless! Come on Fallowkit, Patchkit, Sootkit. We'll look out for each other and have a great time!"
She twitched her snowy white ears, drawing a paw over her whiskers a few times. Why couldn't the other kits see that this would be super fun? It was an adventure! They could be there and home before the warriors even knew they had been there! And besides, she wanted to see Gingerpaw! And maybe Nightpaw or Acornpaw would teach them a battle move to fight the other Clan cats! Mintkit's tail quivered with anticipation. Sparrowstar would be so pleased that his Clan's kits were so strong and brave, that maybe he would apprentice them then and there at the Gathering!
Sprucekit let out a long sigh, turning to Fallowkit. "Don't worry, I'll protect you," he meowed shyly, shuffling his paws on the nursery floor in embarrassment. Oh, why had he said that? She'd think he was weird! "I mean, if the foxes come I'll fight them off! Come on, we're all in this together." He padded over to her and flicked her ear playfully with his tail, trying to lighten up the mood of the cranky she-cat. Maybe Mintkiti was right - maybe, just maybe this could be fun.

Curling her tail around her paws, Patchkit looked at Mintkit and shook her head. It was just like Mintkit to not think things through, and the calico knew when Mintkit got an idea into her head there was no stopping her. Patchkit made no move to go with them, and it seemed obvious that she wasn't going to change her mind.
Worried eyes looked over to Tinykit, but then she quickly averted them away from the ginger she-cat, realising her friend was looking towards her too. In that one moment, they both looked at each other and they both felt like going with the other. But the horror of getting in trouble stopped Patchkit, and the thought of missing out on this adventure stopped Tinykit.
“Okay, if that's all sorted out then lets go,” Tinykit meowed, carefully walking out of the nursery. Turning around, she waited for the others to follow. Her heart hammered against her chest, and she slightly nervous at the thought of wandering about in the forest at night. You'll be with the other kits, she reassured herself.
Grinning, Tinykit realised something. They would be the youngest cats to have attended the gathering, and when they got there Sparrowstar might be so pleased that they could track down the place of the gathering that he would make them all apprentices early. You won't be training with Patchkit, said a voice in her head, but Tinykit pushed it away. If Patchkit was going to be a scaredy-cat, then so be it.

Fallowkit flicked her ears slightly, turning her face towards Mintkit. This was all her fault. If only she hadn't suggested they run off to the gathering they would probably all be having a grand old time playing some safe game without worrying about running off into the forest.
While she accepted that it might be fun to go and see what a gathering was like, Fallowkit still thought that it was a bad idea. Sure, Littlestorm's patrol had chased the foxes away but the elders had always said that a fox always came back. It was just what they did. As for them not being helpless, of course they were helpless! They were a group of little kits who had no fighting skills. Yowling for help would only be effective if they were close enough to other cats to be heard.
No, it sounded like a bad idea and Fallowkit was having no part of it. Perhaps she would be called a coward; so be it. At least she would be safe. "No, I think I'll stay here."
She mewed firmly, looking around at the other kits unflinchingly. They could think what they wanted of her, she didn't care. She was keeping herself safe and that was more important. "Don't worry, I'll protect you," Fallowkit looked around at Sprucekit, somewhat curious, somewhat irritated. "I don't need protection." She snapped, glaring sideways at her brother as he let out a small snort. "I mean, if the foxes come I'll fight them off! Come on, we're all in this together." Fallowkit shook her head, ignoring his playful tail flick. "No. You all can go ahead but I'm staying here. We don't have the skills to fight or track or any of it. It would just cause trouble." She mewed, placing her rump forcefully on the ground to reinforce her point. She was not going, and they couldn't make her. Foxkit sighed slightly as he watched his stubborn sister plant herself firmly upon the nursery floor. There was no convincing her, that he knew. She had made up her mind and she very rarely changed her mind once it was made up. They would be wasting time sitting there trying to persuade her otherwise. "Well I think Fallowkit has made it perfectly clear. She's not going. Let's just go now before we waste any more time." He mewed, looking around at them all and staring towards the nursery entrance, carefully sniffing at it to make sure no one was outside to intercept them. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Sprucekit flinched at Fallowkit's harsh tone. Ducking his head and pressing his ears to his head, he turned his face away from her in embarrassment. He could feel the tips of her ears grow hot and his winced his amber eyes, regretting how he treated her like she was helpless. Sprucekit really liked her and he didn't want to upset her or make her angry. Oh, no! What if she hated him now! Blinking repeatedly to try and wipe the thought away, he turned back to Mintkit. The stupid little she-cat! Why did she have to think of such stupid ideas? It was because she was stupid! Frustrated, he lashed his tail back and forth. "Well, I'm not going! You're all going to get yourselves killed, and if not, the other Clans will make fun of OakClan for not supervising their kits well enough. Sparrowstar won't let you become apprentices if you're just going to embarrass his Clan. You're all mouse brains," he hissed, whipping around and stalking back to his nest with his tail bristling.
Mintkit let out soft mrrows of laughter at Sprucekit. He was acting like a she-cat! A blind rabbit could see how much he liked Fallowkit, but obviously she didn't notice if she was going to snap at him like that. She rolled her pale green eyes, seeing that Fallowkit nor Patchkit would come either. That was just fine with her. She was glad to have Foxkit and Tinykit with her. And quite frankly, she didn't care about the new division in the nursery. Sparrowstar would be proud, and all the warriors would be fighting over who would get to mentor the three bravest kits in the nursery. Her heart swelling with pride, Mintkit turned around and trotted out of the nursery after Tinykit and Foxkit.

Fallowkit saw Sprucekit flinch and immediately regretted snapping at him. He was really nice and she didn't want to hurt his feelings. "Well, I'm not going! You're all going to get yourselves killed, and if not, the other Clans will make fun of OakClan for not supervising their kits well enough. Sparrowstar won't let you become apprentices if you're just going to embarrass his Clan. You're all mouse brains,"
Fallowkit was a little surprised at his change in view on the issue, but was pleased none the less that someone was on her side. She gave Foxkit a last pleading look as he turned to follow Mintkit, though she knew that he would not change his mind. "We'll be fine, I promise. See you later, okay?"
He mewed gently to her but she merely shrugged, turning away from him and padding towards Sprucekit, in his nest. Foxkit sighed slightly and followed Mintkit out of the nursery. Fallowkit would calm down later, she had never been able to hold a grudge for too terribly long. He thought that perhaps she might want to her all about the adventure he had had when he returned. She wouldn't regret not going, he knew that. Fallowkit didn't allow herself to regret things she had been so adamant about. It wasn't in her character. "Sprucekit? I'm sorry I snapped at you, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I was just irritated at the others for being such mouse-brains, that's all. I hope you're not angry with me." She mewed, her eyes worried as she watched the little gray tom cat. Perhaps the remaining kits could do something here. Something really fun that would make the others jealous. They would regret going, she knew it. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

The calico was annoyed. No, not annoyed. Infuriated.
As she watched a bushy ginger tail exit the nursery, Patchkit wondered if she should say something more to try to persuade the grumpy cat. She realised she would just be wasting her breath, though, and so instead turned toward Fallowkit to go join the other kits staying in the nursery. Her paws stopped when she realised that Sprucekit and Fallowkit were talking. It would be rude to interrupt, especially since it was obvious that the tom cat had feelings for Fallowkit, not that the other cat realised it. Her paws took her away from them both, into her own comfy nest beside Tinykit's. Looking at the empty space made the young cat worried. What would happen to them all? Would their apprenticeship be postponed? Would they be caught? Would they be attacked by savage animals? Too many questions pumped around her head, too many questions she was frightened to know the answer too.
Tinykit, on the other hand, was excited. She felt a tingling in her paws as Mintkit and Foxkit joined her outside the nursery. She looked nervously about, her eyes searching the darkness for any other signs of life. The patrol had long gone, and the warriors were sleeping in there den – as were the apprentices. Hoping their absence wouldn't be noticed, Tinykit placed her first paw toward the exit out of camp. “Quickly, and don't let anyone see you!” she hissed as she got ready to sprint, as fast as her tiny legs would carry her, into the forest with her den-mates.
