Redstar felt so very old.
He hadn't physically aged much since his appointment to the position of leader; he hadn't been the oldest leader in the forest when he rose to the position but he wasn't the youngest either. But now he had kits and a family. And Birchstar, who had always seemed so young and carefree, had seemingly given into age, breaking beyond the point of repair. It was all crashing down around him and it all made him feel very, very old.
He stood from his nest, stretching and shaking his limbs to loose the ideas of age that had settled into his joints. He had duties to perform.
Padding on crimson paws from his den, Redstar leapt to the Highbranch, pausing on his perch for a moment before opening his jaws. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey meet beneath the Highbranch for a Clan meeting!"
It was time for life to continue.

Mosskit scampered out of the nursery, feeling the fresh air of camp tickle her face. She closed her deep green eyes, relishing the moment. Redtsrar had just called a Clan meeting, and that could only mean one thing - the apprentice ceremony! Mosskit quivered from the tips of her ears to the end of her tail. She uncurled her claws and sunk them into hte ground, trying to steady herself. It was time to stop acting like a kit! She was going to be a PineClan apprentice. There was no higher honor, she felt.
Behind her, Shadowkit tumbled out of the nursery, her black-patched pelt sleek and shiny. The two kits, who weren't blood related but were just as close, if not more so, than actual littermates. Mosskit twined her tail with her sister and the two padded confidently out of the nursery, light shining in their eyes. They sat down only three tail lengths from the nursery exit, waiting for Brushkit, Shadowkit's littermate.
Mosskit looked across the clearing and saw Wolfpaw and Woodpaw padding out from the apprentice den, the same light in their eyes. It seemed no dawn had ever been brighter. PineClan would move on, and life would continue to get better.

Silent eyes watched the Clan gather below him, murmuring in low tones. This was the first Clan meeting they'd had since the deaths of their Clanmates; even though most know what was happening today, it was an optimistic sign for PineClan's future.
"It's been moons since the deaths of our comrades. The tirades of Hawkstar and MarshClan have taken away our time to grieve, but we've had the chance now. It's time to move on. Our friends walk with StarClan now and they are watching over us now while we move on with the welcoming of four cats into their new ranks.
"Mosskit, Shadowkit and Brushkit, please come forward."

Brushkit exited the nursery accompanied by Drizzlekit and Sorrelkit. The three weren't exactally friends, yet they were at the same time. It was an odd dynamic but none of the three questioned it. Brushkit liked to think that she was in charge of their little group, Sorrelkit was the innocent who thought the others were truly her friends, and Drizzlekit liked feeling accepted by someone.
Brushkit saw her sister Shadowkit and Mosskit standing together a little ways away, but did not make her way towards them. They were more connected to one another than Shadowkit and Brushkit were, and Brushkit had never pretended anything differently. Of course, she loved her sister as all siblings do, but like her friendship with Sorrelkit and Drizzlekit, it was an odd dynamic.
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey meet beneath the Highbranch for a Clan meeting!"
Brushkit's head swung around to look towards Redstar, eyes sparkling with anticipation. She knew what this was about; her apprentice ceremony, along with Shadowkit and Mosskit's.
Sorrelkit, at the sound of her father's call, bounded forward obediently and sat beneath the high branch, gazing up at her large father through admiring eyes. Brushkit rolled her eyes slightly at Sorrelkit's obedience but followed none the less, Drizzlekit padding silently behind her.
Brushkit padded forward and gaze up at Redstar, awaiting the rest of the ceremony. The ceremony that would open the door to her future.

ooc: Shoving this all into one post, because I can.
bic: Redstar watched the three kits pad forward, ready to receive their apprentice names and mentors.
"Brushkit. From this moment, until she has earned her warrior name, this apprentice shall be known as Brushpaw. Stoatfang, you will be mentor to this apprentice. You are courageous and fierce, and I hope you will pass this knowledge to your new apprentice."
He gave the two a moment to greet before moving on to the next apprentice.
"Shadowkit. From this moment, until she has earned her warrior name, this apprentice shall be known as Shadowpaw. Rushtail, you will be mentor to this apprentice. You are quick and even-tempered, and I hope you will pass this knowledge to your new apprentice."
As the she-cat stepped forward to receive her new apprentice, Redstar moved on, giving the last kit her apprenticeship.
"Mosskit. From this moment, until she has earned her warrior name, this apprentice shall be known as Mosspaw. Even though I am currently mentoring Tigerpaw, I will also mentor Mosspaw. I will do everything I can to pass on my knowledge to my new apprentice."
Jumping down from the Highbranch, Redstar took a moment to greet his new apprentice, touching noses with the she-cat before turning to address his Clan once more, this time from beneath the Highbranch.
"Woodpaw, please step forward.
"I, Redstar, leader of PineClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn. Woodpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior and to protect and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your life?"
Redstar paused, giving the tom a second to reply and continuing once the words of affirmation were said.
"Then, by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Woodpaw, from this moment you will be known as Woodpelt. StarClan honors your persistence and intelligence, and we welcome you as a full member of PineClan."
The Clan welcomed the tom as a full warrior before Redstar continued with Wolfpaw's ceremony.
"Wolfpaw, will you please come forward.
"I, Redstar, leader of PineClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn. Wolfpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior and to protect and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your life?"
The tom voiced his agreement, the words ringing out over the Clan with his strong voice.
"Then, by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Wolfpaw, from this moment you will be known as Wolfclaw. StarClan honors your determination and strength, and we welcome you as a full member of PineClan."

Brushpaw padded towards her new mentor, pride sparkling in her amber eyes. Her long, brush-like tail waved through the air as she reached up to touch noses with her new mentor, the new deputy of PineClan.
"Shadowkit. From this moment, until she has earned her warrior name, this apprentice shall be known as Shadowpaw. Rushtail, you will be mentor to this apprentice. You are quick and even-tempered, and I hope you will pass this knowledge to your new apprentice.

Brushkit looked around as her sister and Mosspaw were made apprentices as well, "Shadowpaw, Mosspaw! Shadowpaw, Mosspaw!"
She chanted along with the rest of the crowd, excited for her sister and Mosspaw even though they had never really related all that well. "Woodpaw, please step forward.

She was sure that the two toms would be extremely proud of becoming warriors, especially Wolfclaw. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Amber eyes watched as Redstar called a Clan meeting, and the owner of these eyes quivered a bit in excitement. New apprentices and new warriors for PineClan – just what they needed. The brown tabby listened to the words that followed the leader's summons – the old traditional words of their warrior ancestors. It made her think of her apprentice ceremony and her warrior ceremony, back when Ravenwhisker was still alive. She was distracted from the ceremony for a moment, and if she hadn't heard her name in time then Stoatfang was sure she wouldn't have realised she had just been given an apprentice.
“Stoatfang, you will be mentor to this apprentice. You are courageous and fierce, and I hope you will pass this knowledge to your new apprentice,” Stoatfang straightened up, her chest out and her head high as she proudly stepped toward her new apprentice. Her mind was set on making this young she-cat the best warrior the Clan had seen – but after all, wasn't that every mentor's goal?
Leaning down, she touched noses with the grey and white cat, and another chapter of her life suddenly began – not only for the PineClan deputy, but also for Brushpaw. “I'm glad to have you as my apprentice, Brushpaw,” she murmured in a barely audible voice, “And being my apprentice, I expect you to catch the first bit of prey out of you, Shadowpaw, and Mosspaw when the time comes.” It was hard to tell whether Stoatfang was being deadly serious or just joking about her last comment, and even Stoatfang wasn't sure herself. After the greeting between apprentice and mentor, she looked up and started chanting the names of the newly named cats along with the Clan before Brushpaw had a chance to say anything about what the deputy had said.
