so, what is karma?
Karma is the little number in the user sidebars on posts underneath your location. If you look at other people's sidebars, you can see that you can either Hunt or Eat from their fresh-kill pile. To hunt for someone is to give them karma, and to eat is to take it away.
Karma is awarded for many different things. You could have come up with an interesting site plot or sub-plot, won a site contest, been awarded the MOTM or COTM award, made a super-popular thread that reaches over 100 posts, gained a power position, been a friend to someone who needed a shoulder to cry on, or started a conflict in the role play.
Karma is SN's currency, if you will. You can buy things with karma. If someone sets up a graphics shop, you can trade karma for graphics. There are also sitely things you can buy with karma too...
rules for karma
So yes, anyone can award anyone a karma point for any of the stated reasons above. This, of course, has its extent.
You may NOT award someone karma just because you think they're a nice person, they're your friend, or whatever. No. They have to work for their points and they must deserve them.
When awarding points, you have to be reasonable.
Did someone start a fight in a role play?
You should give them three or four karma points, not fifty. Did someone symphasize with you after your parents announced they were getting a divorce and made the situation at least a little better.?Well, then they deserve seven or eight karma points
The only time an awarded karma amount is to go over ten is when the MOTM and COTM awards are given out. The recipiants of those awards are given seventy karma points each.
ANY violation of these rules and awarding karma will be disabled for regular members, and it will become a Staff-only priviledge.
